I have used helmets in the past that are strong and sturdy but have some weight to them. The thing is when riding long distance like I did for a charity ride, you start to notice every little weight. From the weight of the helmet to the lightness and flexibility of your riding outfit to even your backpack if you have one on. A helmet like Gonex is for me the perfect solution for long distance riders and mountain riders.
It is strong, durable but extremely light. It has an adjustable chin strap and the head sizing is also adjustable. the outside is cover in a very hard material that gives you the protection you need, while the inside is made of Styrofoam, that is light and soft and bouncy to give you the cushioning effect in case of a fall.
It has a few unique features that I haven't seen in any of my more expensive helmets, such as a foam padded chin strap and a bug net inside to stop the bugs getting into your hair, which is a great idea since it has lots of holes to keep you cool during hot summer rides.
For me this helmet has the right balance for all your riding needs, and its design is such that it give less resistance to your speed and also allows cooling breeze to flow through your hair and scalp. This serves to cool you down as you go and the visor give you protection fro your eyes from the sun. I strongly recommend this if you are planning or participating in a long distance ride either for fun, charity or sport.
